Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes

Hello and welcome to RB Blogs!

Before I begin writing and posting football/Everton related blogs, I thought for my first post I would pen the reasons why I have decided to take this step, as there may well be others reading who can relate to my thought process.

My career so far has followed a very traditional path; from school, to university, and then onto training and qualifying in my chosen profession, in an industry which I have now been a part of for 8 years. I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am currently in my field of work, and my career path has enabled me to stand on my own two feet financially. However, if I am being totally honest with myself, something has always been missing. Whilst I am undoubtedly proud of what I have achieved, the unprecedented events of the Covid-19 pandemic have opened my eyes to the fact that life is too short to persevere in a job which may be financially rewarding but lacks any real job satisfaction. The events of this year have made me realise that I have reached the end of the road on this career path, and it may now be time to embark on something new. As the title of this piece suggests, nothing changes if nothing changes!

So what next? The million dollar question. For me this was easy - if I am serious about leaving behind the job and career that has given me so much so far in my life, then it needs to be to do something that I am incredibly passionate about. In my case, this left me with only one option...football. Football has and always will be my number one passion, whether playing it, watching it, reading about it, listening to it, studying it, the game is what I love. I have dabbled with writing blogs for an Everton fan site in the past as a hobby but found it hard to manage this alongside studying at the time. I feel that now is the time for me to set off on a blogging journey of my own. What will come of this journey, who knows? Ultimately my goal is to carve out a career for myself in the beautiful game, though I am long enough in the tooth to know that this may prove to be a fantasy that I might never get close to achieving. What I do know for sure is that I will enjoy researching my blogs, I will enjoy writing my blogs, and I will enjoy listening to and engaging with you and your opinions. If nothing comes of this career-wise for me then so be it - I can but try, and have a great time along the way!
